The United Family to Donate $500,000 to LEPAA for The Buddy Holly Hall of Performing Arts and Sciences

LEPAA to Hold Community Beam Signing Following Announcement

The United Family will announce a $500,000 donation to The Lubbock Entertainment / Performing Arts Association (LEPAA) for The Buddy Holly Hall of Performing Arts and Sciences at a special event on Thursday, June 7 at 4:30 p.m. at the future site of the hall, 1300 Mac Davis Lane. Robert Taylor, President of The United Family®, will present the donation to Tim Collins, LEPAA Board Chairman.

“This donation from The United Family will make a tremendous impact on The Buddy Holly Hall, bringing us closer to our goal of raising $154 million in private dollars to fully fund the design and construction of the Hall,” said Tim Collins, LEPAA Board Chair. “United is an amazing community partner, and we could not be more grateful for their continued partnership and support of The Buddy Holly Hall.”

“As announced a few months ago, we are excited to be a business partner with Buddy Holly Hall as the exclusive caterer concession and restaurant operator but it’s equally important to us to support this project as a donor,” said Robert Taylor, president of The United Family. “Buddy Holly Hall is going to be so impactful to the quality of life on the South Plains and the continued revitalization of downtown Lubbock. For those reasons we are exceptionally proud to announce our gift.”

Immediately following the presentation, members of the community are invited to sign a steel construction beam that will forever be a part of The Buddy Holly Hall, a tangible symbol that The Buddy Holly Hall is truly a venue for the entire South Plains community.

As a special treat for attendees, Austin-based artist Bruce Smith will perform “59 Stratocaster,” an homage to Buddy Holly, at the event.
