A graduate of Baylor University, Laura and her husband, Mark, have held careers in Fort Worth, Russia, Colorado. Homesick for West Texas, they moved back to Lubbock in 2001. Laura is currently the senior vice-president for commercial lending at Prosperity Bank.
Laura has served as president of the Lubbock ISD Foundation for Excellence and chaired the Resource Committee. She was the co-chair of the 2020 Citizens Advisory Committee for Lubbock ISD and the chairman of the 2010 Bond Political Action Committee. An active supporter of her children, Laura has been the president of the Roscoe Wilson Elementary PTA and on the PTA board at Hutchinson Middle School and Lubbock High.
Laura has also chaired the Lubbock Area United Way Board of Directors and served as president of the Ballet Lubbock Board of Directors. After losing a sister to breast cancer, Laura was a founding member of the Susan G. Komen chapter in Tarrant County. She served as president of the Komen board in Lubbock and has organized many fundraising events in Fort Worth, Durango, Colorado, and Lubbock. She is active in the trade organizations for the banking community and has served on several committees for the Lubbock Chamber of Commerce. Laura was recognized by the Volunteer Center of Lubbock for her tremendous service to the children of the community. In addition, she won a statewide award from the Texas Association of Partners in Education for her contributions to public education in Lubbock. Laura was elected vice-president of the LISD Board of Trustees in 2016.
Mark and Laura are the parents of Tom Vinson, a sophomore at Lubbock High School, and Barbara Ruth Vinson, a high school freshman, who is currently studying at the School of American Ballet in New York City.
