The Buddy Holly Educational Foundation Pledges $50,000 to LEPAA

The Buddy Holly Educational Foundation (TBHEF) pledged $50,000 to the Lubbock Entertainment and Performing Arts Association (LEPAA) toward the construction of The Buddy Holly Hall of Performing Arts and Sciences. The pledge was first announced in September at the closing concert of the inaugural Buddy Holly Songwriters Retreat and Festival, held in Buddy’s hometown of Lubbock. LEPAA received the initial payment of $25,000 on the pledge earlier this month.

The Buddy Holly Hall will provide Lubbock with a world-class performance venue comprising two excellent theaters, and will be a hub for entertainment, performing arts and education. The Buddy Holly Educational Foundation is proud to further their mission of honoring Buddy Holly’s tremendous legacy and extending musical education, including songwriting, production, arranging, orchestration, and performance education to new generations regardless of creed, ethnicity or income level by supporting The Buddy Holly Hall – a facility named after Lubbock’s most famous son whose dream was to provide his hometown with the resources to further the arts and education.

Members TBHEF were shown around the construction site during the inaugural Buddy Holly Songwriters Retreat and Festival in September, getting a preview of its grandeur ahead of the 2020 opening, and were inspired to join with the citizens of Lubbock in building this amazing facility funded entirely through private donations.

“Buddy would have been so proud that his name was associated with something he believed in so much – musical education and the arts,” said Maria Elena Holly, Buddy’s wife and Co-Founder of TBHEF. “This wonderful building will be an amazing addition to Buddy’s legacy, and finally makes real a dream he always had for musical facilities and education for his hometown.”

“We are delighted to make this commitment to Lubbock and the Hall, and look forward to a long association with LEPAA and Lubbock, built around this wonderful new facility and the new Buddy Holly Songwriters Retreat,” said Peter Bradley, Sr., Co-Founder of TBHEF with Maria Elena.

TBHEF hopes to continue a multi-year support of the Hall and LEPAA with future joint fundraising events during the construction of the Hall, when it opens, and as it serves the people of Lubbock, of Texas, and the world.

“Having the support of The Buddy Holly Educational Foundation and Maria Elena Holly means the world to us,” said Tim Collins, LEPAA Board Chair. “TBHEF and Maria Elena have supported us from the beginning of this project, and we look forward to many years of partnering to continue Buddy’s legacy in Lubbock.”
